Tower Bowling

This is my version of the Tower Bowling building that once stood on Broadway near Ketner in downtown San Diego. It has long since been demolished to make way for newer buildings.

Tower Bowl opened in San Diego, California, in 1941. The modern center featured 28 lanes in an air-conditioned facility. Like many other bowling centers opened during the 40s and 50s, Tower Bowl offered food and drinks, and bowlers could order without ever leaving their seats. Entertainers graced the cocktail lounge, and a meeting room provided space for social events. Tower Bowl was a cutting-edge facility supporting the bowling center as entertainment center phenomenon.
